Walcott Wrap Around Care

 

Dear Parents & Carers,

We are now ready to take bookings for before and after school care for September.

We are offering three sessions:

7.35am – 8.35am (£4.20)

3.15pm - 4.15pm (£4.20)

4.15pm - 5.30pm (£5.00) This is 1 hr 15 minutes and includes a discount of 25p from the £4.20 per hour rate.

(NB. Free breakfast club delivered as a targeted intervention will end this term.)

These sessions will be delivered by a team of staff on a rota:

Mornings will be delivered by Mrs Bellamy and Mrs Olliver.

After School will be delivered by Mrs Chard and Mrs Bellamy.

Mrs Toyne, Mrs Steer and Mrs Thirkell will provide additional support when needed.

• The staff room will be used as the main base to start with until the new room is ready.
• Sessions need to be booked five days in advance so we can plan for the right level of staffing.
• Bookings are through Parent Pay. (If you have child care vouchers we can accept these, bookings are still made through parent pay and when funds are received the balance will be cleared)
• If you are wanting to use child care vouchers then you should speak to Mrs Steer for further instructions.
• All users will need to sign a contract which will include penalty charges if children are picked up late.
• Bookings will be non-refundable*.
• You may use part sessions but in order to make sessions sustainable we are not offering part payments. (We may review this once we see an established pattern of use)
• Sessions will include the offer of a snack that meets school food standards. (Fruit, breadsticks, bagels etc)

*Unless school has to close or the child is sent home due to illness

 

 

The Provision

The type of activities we offer will depend a lot on pupil feedback. When the weather is good we will make use of the grounds, allotment, woodland areas. In door activities will include: art craft, seasonal, cooking, games, relaxed play with construction and a small world resources, help with reading homework. These are not educational activities so children will have lots of choice. There will be routines such as snack time and really importantly we expect the children to follow the same rules and school values as in school time. The school will reserve the right to decline care to children who do not follow these rules.

Our aim will be to keep cost as low as possible and further grant funding will hopefully help with this over the next two years. We will review pricing after the first six months.

The government aim is for wrap around care until 6.00pm. I will be consulting with families to see if this is something that is eventually needed at Walcott.

What about free after school extra-curricular activities?

We will continue to offer free sports, arts and gardening clubs for the 3.15pm – 4.15pm slot. We are going to send the booking form out before the end of term so you can be clear which sessions you need paid wrap around care for; so, you may wish to update Parent Pay bookings after you have confirmation of these. We will be looking at widening the variety of clubs available over the course of the year.
